Project overview
A comprehensive renovation and replacement of an existing commuter rail station focused on improving accessibility, passenger experience, and connectivity to the surrounding community. The new station introduces a light-filled headhouse with passive ventilation, creating a welcoming and comfortable arrival experience while responding thoughtfully to its suburban setting.
An exposed glulam timber canopy brings warmth and natural character to the platform, celebrating the structure as an integral part of the architectural expression. Essential windowless elements, including the elevator and mechanical towers, are transformed into distinctive architectural anchors through materiality, color, and prominent signage inspired by the area’s local heritage.
The project also revitalizes the pedestrian tunnel and preserves a cherished community flower garden, connecting the station to its surroundings through a natural pedestrian path. Together, these interventions transform functional infrastructure into a more accessible, visible, and community-oriented gateway.
